The Purpose

The goal of Cornerstone's Bridge Program is to help you assimilate into the mainstream. Our philosophy evolves around a simple 3 step progression:EXPOSURE leading to FAMILIARITY fueling CONFIDENCE. We begin by exposing you to the teaching methods and courses taught at Canadian schools in an ESL context. We immerse you in the language, customs, and subject matters offered in Canadian public and private schools helping you to get acquainted with the mainstream program. Academic disciplines such as Canadian History, Geography, Literature, Math and Science are highlighted in our international program. Through quality education and individualized attention, our students will gain the confidence necessary to integrate into the Canadian classrooms.

The Program

Our program has two main division: ESL in the morning and Core Subjects in the afternoon. Grammar, reading, writing, listening and speaking skills are allotted specific times for instruction. Textbooks, reading books, writing journals, videos, audios and other materials are used during instruction to address the specific skill in ESL. Our goal is to thrust proficiency in the English language.

In the afternoon, Core Subject studies are addressed within the ESL context. In many instances, actual textbooks required in the mainstream will be used for instruction. Afternoon classes will be more dynamic with group projects, presentations and experiments leading the way for our activity-based program.

In addition to our classroom instruction, we foster assimilation through frequent field trips and weekly activities. From the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario to the Ontario Science Centre and so much more, we take advantage of rich learning centers and cultural festivities the city of Toronto has to offer.

The Personal Touch

We are committed to the success of every student. Each student will receive and academic evaluation and individual counsel regarding admissions to, and studies in Canadian schools. We will take you and your guardian to visit the schools and assist you in the admissions process. Our staff is well qualified to turn challenging circumstances into opportunities for success.
