Students at the advanced, high school, college and graduate school levels need to drastically improve their writing skills. We at Cornerstone, to address this growing need, are proud to offer our Writing and Essay class.
The course is designed to meet the requirements of advanced students that wish to improve or get an introduction to academic writing. The course is basically in two parts:
A) Academic Writing that has the basis for high school, college, University homework or exams.
B) Writing applications used in real situations.
The following is a list of possible writing sections that are covered. (Not in any specific order). When the need arises, additional applications would be included.
- Personal letters
- Informal letters
- Narrative
- Formal letters – requesting, giving information, applications for jobs, complaint, explanation, business letters
- Discussion/discursive essays – for TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge, Michigan and University placement tests etc.
- Description
- Fantasy, hypothetical
- Summary – fact, opinion, dialogue
- Formal writing – reports, commenting on a book or film, letters to an editor
- Notes, messages and e-mails
- Articles
- Grade 10 literacy tests
- University admission essays – statement of intent
