TOEFL Prep. Program

toefl.jpeg TOEFL is one of the most popular English as a Second Language tests in North America and is required by any Canadian University to those who are not native English speakers. The test is a way for universities to assess whether or not an applicant’s English skills are good enough to attend a university program taught and tested in the language.
With that in mind, Cornerstone Academic College’s designed its “TOEFL Preparation” program to help students prepare for the test. We recommend students participate in this full-time program for 12 weeks. Still, if preferred, students can study for 4 or even 8 weeks, according to his/her needs. Throughout the program, students are exposed to and familiarized with the 4 sections of the test; reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students are also introduced to test taking strategies and time management skills. Our experienced instructors focus on the specific areas where student needs improvement ensuring the test taking experience to be less of a stressful endeavor.

College Entrance Exam Preparation Program

Along with their TOEFL score, any international student- or even Canadian student, needs to go through a college entrance English exam before being accepted into any university program in Canada.  This English test is different from college to college and with that in mind, Cornerstone Academic College designed its “CEEP – College Entrance Exam Preparation” program based on the tests most schools use and therefore preparing the student to enter any Canadian University/College program.
This is an 8-week, 6-hour-a-day course that combines instruction in the four skills; reading, listening, speaking, and writing with a strong focus on vocabulary, comprehension, test strategies, critical thinking, and time management. This enables advanced students to achieve target scores in English proficiency testing as well as academic success in their college career.
Classes will be taught by an experienced test preparation specialist and will consist of lectures, group work, discussions, practice drills, tests, and assignments.

Requirements:
- Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 60 on Cornerstone’s Placement Test (Upper-Intermediate level).
- Candidates must have graduated from high school.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.

Tim Hortons

Tim-Hortons.jpg There’s only one thing Canadians seem to love as much as their ice hockey and that’s Tim Hortons. The Canadian franchise known for its coffee and doughnuts is something we are proud of and are almost obsessed with. The coffee shop can literally be found at every corner of any busy area of the country and surprisingly still very frequently with quite a line-up, especially in the morning.
The company was created in 1964 by Canadian hockey player Tim Horton and operates more than 3 thousand stores spread from coast to coast. Prices are extremely reasonable and any visitor looking for a true Canadian winter experience must try the famous “Extra Large Double Double”, one of the best-selling coffees in the country! As for the doughnuts, they vary according to each season but the “Double Chocolate Dip” is a safe, tasty bet.
